As a local Realtor, I’ve been following the case of Jason Hughes, a convicted real estate broker who pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor conflict of interest violation last year. He’s now suing the California Department of Real Estate over their plans to revoke his broker’s license.
Hughes was found guilty of taking part in two suspect city leases and agreed to repay San Diego millions of dollars for his role. According to San Diego Union-Tribune, Hughes has been attempting to maintain his license since the state sought to revoke it.
Hughes’ case is currently in state court, with the judge deciding to allow him to keep his license while the dispute is litigated. The judge has issued a schedule dictating when each side will need to have filed various motions, with the filings due in January and early February.
