As a local Realtor, I’m always working to stay ahead of the curve and provide the best possible service to my clients. That’s why I’m closely monitoring the impact of the landmark legal settlement governing real estate commissions, which takes effect in a matter of days, according to San Diego Union-Tribune.

The settlement, which resolved a $1.8 billion class-action challenge to seller-paid commissions, has brought about some significant changes to the way buyers’ agents get paid. The most notable changes are that seller offers to buyer agents can no longer be made in a multiple listing service (MLS) and that homebuyers must now sign contracts spelling out how much their agents will get paid before the agents can begin showing them homes.

While these changes are likely to cause some initial confusion, I believe that they ultimately represent a positive step for the real estate industry. These changes will bring greater transparency to the commission process and ultimately create a more level playing field for both buyers and sellers.

I’m committed to helping my clients navigate these new waters. I’ve been studying the new rules and am prepared to help my clients understand their rights and obligations.

If you’re thinking about buying or selling a home, I encourage you to reach out to me to discuss how these changes may affect you. I’m confident that with my expertise and experience, I can help you achieve your real estate goals.
