As a local realtor in San Diego, I’m always keeping an eye on the housing market. According to San Diego Union-Tribune, rental prices in San Diego are down, but it really depends on the neighborhood. For example, in May, the median rent for a one-bedroom apartment in San Diego was $2,370, down 1.3 percent from the previous year. However, in some areas like Coronado and Encinitas, prices have dropped much more significantly. On the other hand, some of the more affordable areas, such as National City and El Cajon, have seen an increase in rent prices.
This is because there is a lot of demand for affordable housing in San Diego, but there isn’t enough supply. There has been a lot of multifamily building in the last decade, which has helped to slow rent growth, but it hasn’t solved the problem.
If you’re looking for a great deal on rent, you might want to consider some of the less popular areas of San Diego. However, if you’re looking for a place in a prime location, you might need to be prepared to pay a premium.
