As a local Realtor, I often get asked about the best places to live in San Diego County and California as a whole. It’s a complicated question, and one that’s often debated among residents and newcomers alike. According to San Diego Union-Tribune, a recent survey by Clever Real Estate found that California ranked as the most “divisive” state in the country, topping the list for both “most desirable” and “least desirable” states. This suggests that while many people find California to be an appealing place to live, others find it less so.
This mixed opinion is not unique to California, as the survey also found that Florida, New York, Texas and Washington were also among the most divisive states. Interestingly, these five states are all highly populated, which may be a factor in the contrasting opinions.
The survey also identified five lower-profile Midwest states with the smallest opinion gaps: Nebraska, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas and Iowa. These states are all considered “red” states, which may further suggest that there is a political divide in opinions about where people would like to live.
Ultimately, the best place to live is a matter of personal preference. However, it’s important to be aware of the different opinions about different states and regions. If you’re thinking about relocating, it’s important to do your research and consider what’s most important to you.
