It’s great news for Mira Mesa! The abandoned Epicentre building is finally on its way to being revitalized. The San Diego City Council has unanimously approved a 45-year lease agreement with San Diego County, allowing the county to transform the property into a youth-focused community center.
This is a fantastic opportunity for our community, and I’m thrilled to see this project moving forward. This center will provide valuable resources and programs for our youth, fostering their growth and development.
According to San Diego Union-Tribune, the county has already allocated $10.5 million for improvements and anticipates starting construction in early 2025. The center will offer a range of activities, including mentoring and tutoring services, music and art programs, gardening and cooking classes, and fitness classes. This will be a valuable asset to our community and I believe it will truly revitalize the area.
It’s exciting to see this level of partnership between the city and county. This project will serve as a model for future regional collaboration and shows how we can work together to create positive change for our community.
